　　一、教育

　　10.Students from poor background such as rural areas often find it difficult to access to university education, so people think universities should make it especially easy for them to study at. To what extent do you agree or disagree? (08.09.27)

　　同意：

　　對個人來講：農(nóng)村學(xué)生和貧困學(xué)生(students from rural or deprived areas)雖然受教育的機(jī)會很低，但是不代表著他們沒有天賦(aptitudes)，知識和態(tài)度去適合大學(xué)的要求(meet entry requirements),為貧窮學(xué)生上大學(xué)提供便利可以保證受教育機(jī)會的均等，同時，對于貧困生來說，教育意味著改變一生的機(jī)會life-changing opportunity大學(xué)提供的經(jīng)濟(jì)支持和學(xué)術(shù)支持，可以幫助學(xué)生適應(yīng)城市生活和大學(xué)生活adapt to urban life and university life對于貧困地區(qū)來說：可以有助于脫貧致富In the long run, only more students attend universities, can this poor area shake off/get rid of poverty. 對于國家和社會來說：僅僅因為經(jīng)濟(jì)條件而不能入學(xué)，社會就會失去一些優(yōu)秀的人才(young talent);與此同時，因為受教育機(jī)會的不平衡(equal access to education is not guaranteed)，貧困學(xué)生在就業(yè)方面會處于劣勢(at a disadvantage)，貧富的差距會維持。另外，文化普及率的提升可以提高國民素質(zhì)，和一個國家的競爭力the improvement of educational level could greatly enhance the quality of the nation basically. Therefore, it may lead to\contribute to the nation's competitiveness in the world.

　　11.Many people use distance-learning programs (study material post, TV, Internet, etc.) to study at home, but some people think that it cannot bring the benefit as much as attending college or university. To what extent do you agree or disagree? (08.10.23)

　　12.Memorization of information by frequent repetition (rote learning) plays a role in most education systems. Do the advantages of this method of learning outweigh its disadvantages? (08.12.06)

　　優(yōu)點：

　　容易掌握，easy handle

　　普遍應(yīng)用：widely use; basic way to memorize

　　在接受教育的初期和年齡較小的孩子中適用

　　缺點：

　　效率低、浪費時間 low efficiency

　　局限創(chuàng)造力limit creativity;枯燥boring

　　不能靈活應(yīng)用could not be used vividly

　　容易遺忘easy to forget，印象不深刻could not leave a deep impression

　　在較高層次的學(xué)習(xí)中就不再適用了
