哥倫比亞大學(xué)新聞學(xué)專業(yè)申請說明：

1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. [No change]

2. The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? [Revised]

3. Rlect on a time when you questioned or challenged a beli or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome? [Revised]

4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. [No change]

5. Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others. [Revised]

6. Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more? [New]

7. Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you've already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design. [New]

今年的美國本科申請Essay與去年相比有什么變化?

其實(shí)，我們可以看到每個題目后面都有[Revised]，[New]和[No change]三項(xiàng)標(biāo)注，代表了改進(jìn)，全新，以及沒有變化的文書題目。之前反響不好，或者選擇較少的題目都得到了替換。據(jù)CA統(tǒng)計，2015-2016年，超過80萬申請人通過Common application提交申請，其中47%的學(xué)生文書寫的是關(guān)于自己的背景、身份、興趣愛好，即第一個essay題目是選擇最多的;有22%的申請人選擇了第5個題目，寫自己的成就;17%的申請人選擇第二個題目，寫經(jīng)歷過的失敗;10%選擇第4個題目，寫了自己解決的某個問題;剩下4%寫的是第三個題目(about an idea challenged)
