美國本科留學(xué)面試問題舉例.

　　美國大學(xué)本科錄取的過程中有一個面試的環(huán)節(jié)，這是一次近距離面對面的接觸的機會，能給面試官留下好的印象將會對自己的留學(xué)申請成功有很大的作用。下面的這些問題都是同學(xué)們從參加面試回來后反饋的信息整理出來的一些常見問題，希望同學(xué)們通過這些例子能夠?qū)W習(xí)到大學(xué)面試的一些基本應(yīng)答技巧，舉一反三，領(lǐng)悟面試真諦。

　　Question 1: Why This College?

　　在面試過程中，"為什么選擇這所學(xué)校"是最常見的問題，學(xué)生一定要根據(jù)自身的情況結(jié)合學(xué)校的特點來回答。在我們做面試培訓(xùn)的時候，多數(shù)學(xué)生給我們的答案是："因為排名不錯，學(xué)校地理位置也不錯，所以我選擇它。"雖然這很有可能是事實，但如果你要申請的是頂尖學(xué)校，需要跟許多實力很強的優(yōu)秀學(xué)生競爭，這樣的答案就顯得太一般了。曾經(jīng)有一個非常優(yōu)秀的學(xué)生，同時申請了包括普林斯頓大學(xué)和耶魯大學(xué)在內(nèi)的幾所前10的學(xué)校，最終也獲得了其中一所前10的學(xué)校的錄取和講學(xué)金。但這個學(xué)生在普林斯頓大學(xué)面試的時候，就回答得不好。他們的對話是這樣的：

　　AO: Why Princeton?

　　Applicant: To get me prepare for my dream. Because Princeton cultivates leaders in science and focus on undergraduate education. It provides many financial support for students. Students have many opportunities to get financial aid.

　　AO: What can you do for Princeton if admitted?

　　Applicant: I am talented in Physics. I can contribute my talent in the college of Physics. And I wish to be an admission interviewer like you.

　　這個學(xué)生在面試之前并沒有做好準(zhǔn)備，甚至過度自信地認(rèn)為不需要我們的培訓(xùn)，他在回答為什么選擇普林斯頓時給面試官的感覺是非常注重獎學(xué)金，而第二個問題說想成為面試官完全是畫蛇添足，因為成為面試官和他到普林斯頓學(xué)習(xí)物理是沒有聯(lián)系的。相比之下，這個學(xué)生在耶魯大學(xué)面試的時候，就發(fā)揮得不錯了。以下是學(xué)生回憶的答案："First of all, based on what I learnt about Yale, there are five presidents from Yale. I think Yale is a good place help me develop my leadership. I have been the class monitor for more than two years, …… Secondly, Yale dedicates to integrating science and art. …… I believe that the education in Yale will prepare me to be a leader in a field combination of science and art."

　　在這個回答里，學(xué)生對學(xué)校做了一點研究，從了解耶魯培養(yǎng)了不少領(lǐng)袖人物，到學(xué)校致力于把科學(xué)與藝術(shù)有效結(jié)合的教育目的，分析自己哪些方面是符合學(xué)校培養(yǎng)人才的宗旨的。Why this college這個問題的重點是要了解被面試的學(xué)生是否已經(jīng)對該大學(xué)做了很深入地研究，學(xué)生在表現(xiàn)他對這個學(xué)校充滿熱情，渴望了解更多的同時，要巧妙地用適當(dāng)?shù)氖吕w現(xiàn)出他具有哪些特點對于學(xué)校而言是strong match的。選擇具體的事例說明你對學(xué)校提供的某個Program很感興趣往往是一個不錯的選擇。

　　Question 2: Why Your Major?

　　因為美國大學(xué)學(xué)制設(shè)置的特點和專業(yè)的選擇的自由性，招辦人員一般都很清楚地知道，大多數(shù)高中生進入大學(xué)后，很可能會改變專業(yè)，但是，他們?nèi)韵Ｍㄟ^這一個問題能看出這個學(xué)生是否對自己選擇的專業(yè)已經(jīng)有一些基本的認(rèn)識，也希望通過這個問題使學(xué)生還沒有進入到學(xué)校的時候就已經(jīng)認(rèn)真思考過專業(yè)的選擇.學(xué)生在回答這個問題的時候除了能夠說出一點對這個專業(yè)的認(rèn)識，最好能夠說明自己是怎樣喜歡這個專業(yè)，希望通過在這個學(xué)校學(xué)習(xí)該專業(yè)獲得什么樣的結(jié)果。如果學(xué)生在回答"Why This College?"提到了選擇該校是因為該校在某專業(yè)的教育特別突出，那么，面試官一般就會跳過"Why Your Major"這個問題了。

　　比如有一個申請賓夕法尼亞大數(shù)學(xué)專業(yè)的學(xué)生，她的答案是這樣的：

　　"Mathematics is most likely what I will major in. I have got distinction award in AMC. And have received many honors for Math in national or city level competitions. I love Math because, in my view, it is the basis of business, in which field I wish to pursuit a master degree in Warton Business School. The person who led me to decide to take Math as my major is a Math Professor from Penn, …… Penn provides best program in Math and I believe that it would be a dream place for a person like me, who loves Math and wish to get success in Economics." goplaceswithdan.com

　　Question 3: What do you do just for Fun?

　　許多名校招生辦人員講，他們發(fā)現(xiàn)很多亞裔的學(xué)生成績都非常優(yōu)秀，但課外活動很少，幾乎沒有什么愛好，即使有些活動學(xué)生參加了，也似乎能夠看出是為了申請大學(xué)而參加的活動或者是學(xué)校組織的活動，因為許多學(xué)生提供的課外活動都是非常相似，缺乏個性。他們就是要通過這一問題，想看看學(xué)生們真正的本我。素有"魔鬼訓(xùn)練營"之稱的麻省理工，錄取率比較低的斯坦福大學(xué)和加州理工，以出色大學(xué)籃球隊著稱的杜克大學(xué)，不是僅僅招收高分學(xué)生，他們更看重學(xué)生的創(chuàng)造意識,創(chuàng)造能力以及團隊精神。麻省理工的招生人員希望通過這個問題，了解申請人"在業(yè)余的時間，不學(xué)習(xí)的時候，你喜歡做什么"，其目的是要從中發(fā)現(xiàn)這個學(xué)生將會為學(xué)校的多姿多彩的校園生活貢獻什么。面試的學(xué)生應(yīng)該展現(xiàn)出自己真正的愛好，在必要的時候可以出示一些相片或者作品。

　　Question 4: What are your three greatest strengths?

　　其實這個問題是給你一個機會說明你的與眾不同。你的回答應(yīng)該是盡可能體現(xiàn)出你是有獨特思想同時對自己有著清醒認(rèn)識的人。與別的問題不同，這個問題是絕對不應(yīng)該出現(xiàn)"I am not sure"這個說法的。你必須能夠清楚而有條理地陳述兩到三個自身的特點，并且最好能夠給出一兩個具體事例支持你的說法。

　　比如一個獲得常春藤大學(xué)錄取的學(xué)生是這樣回答這個問題的："My first strength is my compassion and leadership. I have organized a volunteer group and some charity activities. …… My second strength is my creative thinking. I have participated in China Youth Creative Competition and received the first prize. And bala bala…"

　　有時面試官可能會問到一些比較怪異或者聽起來比較愚蠢的問題，比如："If you were an animal, what kind would you be and why?" 這個時候不要慌亂，也不要表現(xiàn)出不敬，盡量思考并努力根據(jù)你的個性給出一個有創(chuàng)意的答案，也許會得到意想不到的結(jié)果。

　　學(xué)生向面試者提出的問題集錦
