  1.???后綴

  后綴可以告訴我們單詞的詞性。

  舉例:以下SSAT都包含基本的后綴。

  2.??前綴和詞根

  前綴在單詞的開頭,詞根可以在單詞的任何位置。這兩種單詞的部分都對記憶單詞有很大幫助。比如,考生遇見vociferous,可以思考其中voc這個(gè)詞根,盡量想出同樣含有voc的其它單詞。我們知道vocal和說話有關(guān)系,自然可以推斷出vociferous同樣和說話有關(guān)系。如果能想象vociferous表示喊叫,那么剩下的意思也可以記?。赫f話大聲并且不連續(xù)的。

  注意voc在vociferous和vocal中的發(fā)音不同。詞根經(jīng)常會(huì)改變發(fā)音,很多詞根已經(jīng)出現(xiàn)幾百年了。隨著時(shí)間的推移,不光發(fā)音會(huì)變化,含義也會(huì)變化,所以現(xiàn)在的單詞含義已經(jīng)不是簡單的詞根累加了。所以詞根學(xué)習(xí)不能取代查字典,只能幫助記憶新詞匯并且對詞匯進(jìn)行分組。
