Maximize Your Points on IELTS Speaking Tests

So what do you need to do? You need to answer with a little bit more detail. You need to extend your answers a little bit, okay? Answer the question that they ask. It doesn't matter if you prepare something and they don't -- they ask a question that your answer is no good for, drop it. You have to make an effort to answer their question.

  你需要做什么?你需要給出一些更詳細(xì)的答案,擴(kuò)展你的答案?;卮鹂脊僖慊卮鸬膯栴},而不是回答你自己事前準(zhǔn)備的問題。如果考官問的問題和你事先準(zhǔn)備的問題不相關(guān),那你就必須努力的思考答案。

Now, today, we're going to be looking at using some relative pronouns and some relative adverbs to lengthen out your sentences a little bit, okay? So extend your answers, and answer the question. As you may be aware, IELTS speaking tests one and three, they're particularly looking for you to give information about yourself, to tell people about yourself.

  今天,我們將從關(guān)系代詞和關(guān)系副詞著手?jǐn)U展你的答案。你可能已經(jīng)注意到,雅思口語考試的第一部分和第三部分側(cè)重于讓考生表達(dá)自己 的所感所想。

So I'm saying that these pronouns and adverbs are going to be particularly helpful. So these pronouns you put in the middle of sentences to continue the sentence and give a bit more. So you'd use "who" to describe people. "The person I met who is a shopkeeper" -- "The person I went to school with who is now a famous movie star”. So "who", when you're giving more information about the person, okay, who's doing something, who's the subject. Okay? You can also use "whom", but it's not so common. "Whom" would be the indirect version of this, someone who's not doing something.

Besides, you'd use ‘that’ when you're describing things. For example, "I went to Bath on Saturday. That was a fantastic place to visit." I'm describing the activity of going to a place. Okay? Bath itself. So it's a proper noun.

  除此之外,當(dāng)你描述某物時(shí)你還可以用 ’that’ ?!拔疑现芰チ税退?,那是一個(gè)值得一去的地方”。我描述的是去巴斯這個(gè)地方,所以后面可以直接用方位代詞’that’。

When you want to describe things in a sorted of non-defining clause sense, you can just use ‘which’. For example, "The film which I saw on Saturday was really good."

  你也可以把’which’ 這個(gè)詞用在非限制定語從句中來描述你想形容的事情或者事件。例如, “周六我看的那個(gè)電影是在是太棒了”。

You can use "whose", when you are going to describe a possession. For example, "The car I drove whose owner was Charlie" .

  當(dāng)你想描述一個(gè)東西的所有關(guān)系時(shí),你也可以用’whose’ 這個(gè)疑問代詞。例如,“我開的這臺(tái)車的主人是Charlie”。

In conclusion, these are some ideas I’d like to share with you, hope you could learn something from the article.

  這就是我所總結(jié)的幾點(diǎn)擴(kuò)展語言的方法,希望各位能有所獲益。
