2017美國本科CA系統(tǒng)大變革 8月1日全新上線!

今天6月新SAT出分了，大家考得如何?需要十月再戰(zhàn)嗎?希望你們都考出好成績，迎接2017年大學(xué)本科申請。即將進入八月，而新一輪的申請也將拉開序幕。

盡管今年CAAS系統(tǒng)上線，但申請本科，我們大多數(shù)人還是通過美國大學(xué)通用申請系統(tǒng)Common Application(以下簡稱CA系統(tǒng))提交材料。而在今年8月1日，即將開放的CA系統(tǒng)又進行了一次新的改革，一起來看看變化都有哪些。

改革1：文書題目

CA系統(tǒng)官網(wǎng)已經(jīng)公布了2016-2017學(xué)年美國大學(xué)本科申請作文的題目，題目已經(jīng)做了更新，與過往不同的有兩道，題目如下：

The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

跟改革之前的題目相比，這個題目主要是增加的第一句，強調(diào)了 lessons we take from failure ，即你從失敗中獲得了怎樣的教訓(xùn)，這些教訓(xùn)是如何幫助你成功的。據(jù)統(tǒng)計，以往超過80萬申請人中有17%的申請人選擇這一題目。

Describe a problem you ve solved or a problem you d like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.

這是個全新的題目。據(jù)統(tǒng)計，10%的申請人選擇全新題目。

除了以上2個題目，其余的3個題目沒有修改，題目如下：

Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.

據(jù)CA系統(tǒng)統(tǒng)計，2015-2016年，47%的學(xué)生選擇這個題目進行寫作。

Rlect on a time when you challenged a beli or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?

據(jù)統(tǒng)計，選這道題的人非常少，只有4%。

Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.

據(jù)統(tǒng)計，有22%的申請人選擇此題目。

另外，關(guān)于作文提交部分，系統(tǒng)中會以清單的形式直觀地告訴申請者哪些學(xué)校需要提交或哪些學(xué)校不需要提交。對于某些大學(xué)的額外寫作要求，也會出現(xiàn)在申請表的各個位置。如此一來，系統(tǒng)靈活性加大，但申請難度也進一步增加了。

改革2：賬號信息可長期保留

以往CA系統(tǒng)每年8月1日重新開放的時候，已經(jīng)注冊過的學(xué)生信息會被清除，學(xué)生需要重新注冊。而今年與往年不同的是，在8月1日之前申請2017年入學(xué)的同學(xué)可以一直保留自己的CA帳號，申請期間的個人添加信息一直會保存，除非自己刪除。這樣子不了解申請流程的同學(xué)，可以有足夠的時間去了解，并按照要求準(zhǔn)備材料和活動。(請注意7月21日-8月1日期間系統(tǒng)維護，不能使用。)

改革3：刪除部分犯罪歷史問題

關(guān)于是否應(yīng)該詢問申請人的犯罪歷史的問題，美國教育部門及各高校已經(jīng)討論很久，新的系統(tǒng)中仍然會問學(xué)生是否犯有輕罪或重大罪行，但會刪除部分細節(jié)問題。

改革4：改變性別認(rèn)定方式

性別認(rèn)定一欄將不再只有男性和女性兩個選擇，新的系統(tǒng)將詢問學(xué)生的出生性別，同時新增空白欄允許學(xué)生表達自己的意愿，如是否為變性人。

改革5：系統(tǒng)中新增37所美國大學(xué)

目前CA系統(tǒng)中已包含590所美國大學(xué)，除了加州大學(xué)系統(tǒng)、得州大學(xué)、麻省理工學(xué)院、羅格斯大學(xué)等學(xué)校，CA系統(tǒng)涵蓋了美國大部分學(xué)校。2017秋季學(xué)期，CA系統(tǒng)將新增37所大學(xué)，包括貝勒大學(xué)、喬治梅森大學(xué)、印第安納大學(xué)伯明頓分校及威斯康辛麥迪遜大學(xué)等。

另外，部分大學(xué)也公布了本學(xué)年度的申請文書題目，這里就大家關(guān)心的幾所名校的相關(guān)信息與補充Essay題目進行了整理。

補充文書題要求(可選)

- Unusual circumstances in your life

- Travel or living experiences in other countries

- What you would want your future college roommate to know about you

- An intellectual experience (course, project, book, discussion, paper,poetry, or research topic in engineering, mathematics, science or other modesof inquiry) that has meant the most to you

- A list of books you have read during the past twelve months
