oday we will look at the criteria of pronunciation, this is one of the four criteria on which you will be tested.
今天我們來一起探討下英語發(fā)音的評(píng)判標(biāo)準(zhǔn),這也是雅思考試中需要考核的重要一項(xiàng)。
This criterion focuses on accuracy in variety of pronunciation features, which includes the individual sounds. The spelling of word can sometimes confuse this. For example, ‘euphemism’, /?ju?.f?.m?.z?m/ .
這個(gè)評(píng)判標(biāo)準(zhǔn)根據(jù)發(fā)音各種復(fù)雜的特點(diǎn)來考量學(xué)生發(fā)音的準(zhǔn)確性,包括單個(gè)單詞的發(fā)音。單詞的拼寫有時(shí)候也會(huì)對(duì)發(fā)音造成困惑。例如,euphemism這個(gè)單詞的發(fā)音。
Word stress
單詞的重音
Stressing the wrong syllable in a word is a frequent air. For instance, it should be mistake, /m??ste?k/, democracy /d??m?k.r?.si/. Word stress can be confusing when it changes with different parts of a word family. For instance, photograph /?f??.t?.ɡrɑ?f/, photography /f??t?ɡ.r?.fi/, and photographic /?f??.t??ɡr?f.?k/
Sentence stress
句子的重音
For instance, the way that some words in a sentence are emphasised or slightly louder. For example, [I]f I were YOU, I’d go by BUS.
在某些句子中,個(gè)別單詞常常被說話者強(qiáng)調(diào)或者中毒,例如下面的這個(gè)句子:
If I were YOU, I’d go by BUS. “YOU” 和 “BUS”這兩個(gè)詞就需要適當(dāng)?shù)闹刈x。
Intonation
語調(diào)
The pitch of your voice changing as you talk. Monotone intonation is a typical when someone has memorised long responses, this may result in lower test scores.
當(dāng)你在說話時(shí),你的聲音會(huì)婉轉(zhuǎn)起伏。但當(dāng)你在生硬的背誦答案時(shí),你的聲音通常都會(huì)處于一個(gè)單一音調(diào)的狀態(tài),這往往也是為什么有些考生在考試中不能拿高分的原因。
Chunking
斷句
Talking in a rhythm which delivers chunks of words with short silences between. Good public speakers often use this skill.
說話的時(shí)候掌握一定的節(jié)奏,可以有短暫的停頓。這一技巧我們可以從很多優(yōu)秀的演說家身上學(xué)習(xí)到。
To improve your pronunciation, Eva recommends these steps.
Eva老師推薦以下的方法來提升你的英語發(fā)音。
The first step is to find out how English intonation, sentence stress and rhythm, differ from your native language.
首先,你需要自己對(duì)比一下你的母語和英語在語調(diào),重音,以及韻律上有什么不同,并加以區(qū)分。
Refer to a dictionary to confirm the correct word stress if you are unsure.
當(dāng)你碰到不熟悉的單詞時(shí),一定要參考字典確定其正確的重讀音節(jié)。
Listening to a variety of authentic English sources will help you become familiar with the range of pronunciation features. For instance, listen to the BBC radio, where the Voice of American and whatever subjects interest you. Even you are not listening closely, having the radio or television on in the background can also help you to familiar with the rhythm and intonation of English.
多聽聽地道的英語,熟悉英語發(fā)音的特點(diǎn)。你可以多聽聽BBC,VOA或者是其它任何你有興趣的地道英語節(jié)目。即便你不精聽這些節(jié)目,泛聽也能很好的幫助你了解英語的韻律和音調(diào)。
Don’t rush when you speak, that’s a common mistake. You might skip sounds or words. It’s better to speak clearly.
當(dāng)你說話的時(shí)候切記不要太著急,這是考生普遍會(huì)犯的錯(cuò)誤之一。當(dāng)你語速太快時(shí),你很可能會(huì)漏發(fā)某個(gè)音或者單詞,因此,最好是要保證發(fā)音清晰。
Recording yourself can be very useful, try to apply what you’ve learned about the different features of pronunciation in English.
自己錄音也是一個(gè)很好的糾正發(fā)音的方法,在錄音的同時(shí)你可以應(yīng)用你所掌握的英語發(fā)音的特點(diǎn)來糾正你的發(fā)音。
The face to face nature of IELTS speaking test encourages you to develop the skills you will need to interact successfully with English speakers.
面對(duì)面的雅思考試可以使你在以后的英語實(shí)境交流中與外國人暢談得更加順利。
