Pearls of Wisdom Proverbs are an important part of English language and culture. Many people love proverbs for its wisdom; others enjoy the images in proverbs. But proverbs are the most impressive because they express a lot of information in just a few words.
1. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. 雙鳥在林不如一鳥在手。 2. A borrowed cloak does not keep one warm. 借來的斗篷不暖身。 3. A clean hand wants no washing. 身正不怕影子斜。 4. Actions speak louder than words. 事實勝于雄辯。 5. Adversity is a good discipline. 苦難是磨練人的好機會。 6. A fall into the pit, a gain in your wit. 吃一塹,長一智。 7. A friend in need is a friend indeed. 患難朋友才是真朋友。 8. A good example is the best sermon. 身教勝似言教。 9. A life without a purpose is a ship without a rudder. 人生無目的,猶如船失去了舵。 10. All roads lead to Rome. 條條道路通羅馬。 11. A new broom sweeps clean. 新官上任三把火。 12. As a man sows, so he shall reap. 種瓜得瓜,種豆得豆。 13. Better wit than wealth. 智力勝于財富。 14. Bitter pills may have wholesome effects. 良藥苦口利于病。 15. Blood is thicker than water. 血濃于水。 16.
